Asset register

The things you own, sell or operate. Every item here is re-checked against all six databases whenever you run a compliance check — and the result is recorded.
Checking…

Actions

Every match found against your register. A finding with no recorded action is an open liability — that distinction is what an inspector asks about.

Cart & shelf scanner

Point the camera at everything at once. Every barcode in frame is read and checked in place — red is recalled, green is clear.
MULTI-CODE SCAN · RED = RECALLED · GREEN = CLEAR
⛶
Point your camera at the whole cart.
Every barcode in the frame is read at once and checked against all six databases.

What it reads: barcodes — UPC, EAN, QR, Code 128. It does not identify products by shape or packaging, so an item whose barcode faces away from the lens is not assessed. An exact barcode match against a published recall is definitive; a match on the product's name is flagged "possible", because two products can share a description.

Compliance records

A permanent, dated record of every check you have run. This is the artefact an inspector, an insurer or a marketplace actually asks for.

What is behind this console

Every figure comes from the agency that issued it. Requests go straight from your browser to the agency — nothing is proxied, cached on a server, or enriched by us.

Live feeds — polled continuously
EU Safety Gate (RAPEX)
31 European countries · 32,000+ notifications · product photos and barcodes
↗
CPSC
US consumer products · a photo on every record · UPCs where published
↗
openFDA — food, drugs, devices
Three enforcement feeds · Class I / II / III severity
↗
NHTSA + vPIC
US vehicles · VIN decode · search only, see below

Limits worth knowing

"Live" means polled, not streamed. No agency publishes a realtime firehose. CPSC posts most days, openFDA weekly, EU Safety Gate every Friday. The console re-checks all five every five minutes and timestamps both when the agency published an alert and when Radar first saw it — different clocks, both shown.
The first load is a backfill, not a live burst. On a fresh browser every record is unseen, so the first sync is marked historical and never flashes the map. Only alerts published within the last 21 days count as live detections.
Vehicles aren't on the map. NHTSA offers lookup by year/make/model but publishes no "recently issued" endpoint, so cars are fully searchable and absent from the live feed.
Matching is on text and identifiers. An exact barcode match is definitive. A name match is a lead, not a verdict — an item described differently than you registered it can be missed.
Coverage is the US and Europe. Those are the jurisdictions with open recall APIs. Asia, Latin America and Africa appear as countries of origin only.
USDA meat and poultry are missing. The FSIS API refuses every non-browser client, so it is excluded rather than shipped broken. Check fsis.usda.gov/recalls.

Privacy

No account, no server, no analytics. Your register, your records and your licence key never leave the device. Camera frames are processed on-device and never uploaded — only the decoded barcode number is sent, to the recall databases themselves.

Recall Radar is not affiliated with any government agency. Compliance records are generated from your own register and are not a government certification. Always confirm on the official notice before acting.
